Force 10 served as the Receiver in high-profile litigation involving former attorney Michael Avenatti (convicted of fraud and extortion). Following a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing, we support the Trustee, and government agencies.
Force 10 served as the court-appointed Receiver over the law firm owned by Michael Avenatti (sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for stealing millions of dollars from clients and tax fraud and disbarred). As Receiver, we ultimately determined the bankruptcy court was a more robust forum to pursue claims. We produced complex funds tracing analysis that facilitated litigation, worked on forensic topics with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the IRS, the State of NY, and provided litigation support in pursuing avoidance actions by subsequently appointed Chapter 7 Trustee.
