Monica is a Dallas-based Partner who joined Force 10 with a long track record as a restructuring expert, Chambers-recognized bankruptcy attorney and advocate for bringing diversity and women to top corporate positions. Monica Blacker is an investor, advisor, and international speaker who has extensive experience assisting clients in high stakes litigation and restructurings. Her varied experience leads to an innovative approach to solving complex business issues and effectively managing risk.
During her 22 years of practice at several Large Global Law firms, she represented debtors, secured, and unsecured creditors in many major cases. Based on her 20+ year career as a fiduciary as well as a restructuring and reorganization and litigation attorney, she has been retained by companies as a tool for their in-house team to interface with outside counsel and other advisors and became an invaluable member of the company’s team acting as a chief legal strategy officer to assess and manage the alternative restructuring strategies. In addition, she has been hired by public companies to report to their board of directors on diversity and inclusion matters. All of this experience makes her a unique professional with the ability to address not only restructuring and business issues, but also focus on diversity and inclusion.
Monica is an At-Large Director at the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation and is Founder of BAX Advisors for Bold Accomplished Women, which gives women and minorities the tools to advance in the workplace. She frequently speaks, advises, and consults with major corporations, banks, law firms, accounting firms, and other organizations around the world. Monica will continue her leadership of BAX Advisors.
“I am very entrepreneurial in spirit,” Monica says. “I embrace the Force 10 ethos of going far beyond the typical, attorney role to navigate a business back toward long-term prosperity.”
Monica graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from James Madison University and earned her J.D., also cum laude, from Southern Methodist University Law School. She was an Associate at Thompson & Knight and Neligan & Foley and a Partner at Andrews Kurth and Jackson Walker.
